Seek and Find

From the depths of deepest sorrow,
where lurk monsters and demons,

spring the profoundest comprehensions,
the courage of heroes, brave and true.

Phantoms haunt the mind
through the ages, mental behemoths,

propel common thoughts on cosmic
voyages, impossible quests in search

of mythical prizes, to ascertain the truth,
acquainting mortals with the divine:

though what is found is as complex
as the very mind of God: the destiny

of the world, the meaning of life,
and the mystery of pain and death.

Behind nameless, faceless horrors,
the greatest treasures lie in wait,

guarded by all the anguish and apathy,
of the discerning philosopher and prophet.

Seeking the divine is dangerous not only
to the body, but the very soul of humanity.

The answer may be its undoing, for even as
it liberates us from the sting of the world,

it shows us the futility and vanity of being,
and the breathless beauty of nothingness.
